Regional Coordinator, Midlands Office of Catholic Charities (Columbia, SC) 

The Regional Coordinator facilitates the social mission of Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Charleston by developing and implementing services and programs for the poor and marginalized. Ensures the delivery of high quality social services and advocacy. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills. Knowledge of MS Office and basic budgeting. Must have 2-5 years business experience in social services environment or in a Catholic Church ministry activity. Bachelor’s degree in social work, business, liberal arts, or human services field or in other related social service field, or equivalent combination of education and/or related experience required. Master’s degree preferred. Knowledge of Catholic social teaching required. Excellent benefits with generous paid time off.

Client Advocate (FT, North Charleston)

40 hrs/wk for Catholic Charities, North Charleston. Provide health care services, client advocacy, and emergency financial assistance. Understanding of Catholic Social Teaching, BSW or similar training and experience required. Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

Peer Navigator for Veterans and Military Families

General Description: This opportunity is available through Americorps in partnership with Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Charleston, Inc.  as a volunteer service member.  In addition to excellent training and service opportunities, this position will pay a living allowance of $12,100.00 per year and upon completion of 1750 service hours, the service member will be eligible for an educational award of $5,500.00.  This award is transferrable to children or grandchildren for members age 55 or over.  Applicants must be able to attend paid training in late September.

The Veterans peer navigator is collaborative supporter and a member of the Support Services Team with the objective to support the mission Catholic Charities and the clients served by being responsible for the case management of all Veterans and military families seeking assistance. The Veterans peer navigator helps the Veterans identify their goals related to medical, substance use, financial, mental health, housing, legal, vocational, transportation, and family needs while developing strategies to achieve their goals.

The schedule for this position requires day hours and may include occasional evening hours to accommodate the schedule of clients served. This position reports to a site supervisor.

Duties/Responsibilities: Performs all case management duties for Veteran clients who choose to participate in case management. Promotes self-sufficiency with all clients. Explains the nature of the available programs, procedures and services. Explains the benefits, advantages and encourages Veterans and military families to participate in Case Management. Tracks and enters relevant data on a timely basis and maintains complete and organized client files. This includes entry into electronic data tracking programs as well as case notes within client files. Remains familiar with current Veterans Administration regulations as they relate to needs of the client base.

Qualifications, Experience and Abilities: As a prerequisite, the successful candidate must believe in the core values of AmeriCorps and be driven by the mission of the Catholic Charities organization. High School Degree or GED. A legal resident of the United States. A Veteran of the Armed Forces or the spouse of a Veteran or active military personnel.  Ability to establish and maintain professional boundaries in working with clients.  Knowledge of community resources. Ability to assess emergency situations and respond effectively. Excellent written and verbal skills in the English language.  Must be prompt and dependable. The successful candidate must be able to pass a background check as per AmeriCorps requirements.
