Thank you for your interest in attending the 2022 Prison Ministry Volunteer Conference on October 29th. This diocesan-wide conference is for experienced volunteers as well as for people looking to become volunteers. It has been many years since we have gotten together to collaborate on how to work with the men and women incarcerated in the SCDC system, the county detention centers, and federal correctional institutions. This conference is that opportunity to connect with other volunteers to share ideas and resources. Our presenters will be chaplains, priests, deacons, and lay volunteers who have been involved with prison ministry of a number of years. The topics include best practices, do’s and don’ts when serving in a prison, RCIA inside the prison, re-entry issues and pre-release training options, benefits of a pen-pal program with your parish, recruiting volunteers, and working with ecumenical groups. The day will start at 8:00 AM with registration and a welcome. The first presentation starts at 9:00 AM, and the final presentation will end at 4:30 PM with a few closing details. Lunch is included.
Below is the link to register for this one-day event. The registration fee is $25.00. Once your registration is complete, you will receive an automated acknowledgement email from me and two weeks before the event you will receive a more detailed schedule of the presentations and presenters.
Please spread the word about this conference to anyone else in your parish who might be interested.
